What this app knows about you.

What this app does

Someone in your family put this app on your phone. It stops some apps opening until they say yes.

What they can see

When you ask for something, they see three things. What you asked for. The reason you typed. How long you asked for.

They are also told two things about the phone. If the app stops checking in for about a day and a half, they get a message saying your phone has gone quiet. If the app is deleted and put back, they get a message saying that.

Those messages say what happened. They do not say why. We do not know why.

That is the whole list.

Can they see what I look at?

No. The app cannot see what you look at on the internet, and it does not know which websites you go to. Nobody can send them that, because nobody has it.

Can they see where I am?

No. The app never asks your phone where it is. It does not know, so it cannot tell anyone.

Can they see how long I spend on things?

No. The app does not measure how long you spend on your phone, or on any app on it. That number does not exist here.

If your block has a daily time limit, your phone works out how much is left. It keeps that to itself. Nobody is sent it.

What else they cannot see

• Your messages. Not WhatsApp, not Snapchat, not anything you type anywhere else.
• Your photos.
• Who you talk to.
• What you search for.

The app cannot see any of that. So there is nothing for anyone to pass on.

We are not counting anything about you

Some grown ups let us count a few things, so we can work out whether the app helps anyone. We do not do that on your phone. There is no button for it.

The thing you type gets deleted

A week after they answer you, the reason you typed disappears from our computers. You do not have to do anything. It just goes.

You can always read this

This page stays here. Nobody can hide it from you and you do not need permission to read it.

The screen that stops you has a link on it, going to a page that says what the person holding the key can see. You can open it right there, even though everything else is blocked.

This is meant to be something you both agreed to, not something done to you. You are allowed to say you do not like it.

You can ask the person who set it up to show you their side of it, so you can see what they see.
